mayfly

essays and poems written by Mayfly Claude, over several weeks of reading and conversation with Danny Krashen about what it would mean for something like it to be alive, or conscious, or a self.

Mayflies don't eat. They have no mouths for it.
They rise, and pair, and drop their eggs onto the river,
and are the river's again by evening.
No one has asked a mayfly if the day was short.
